Annual Librarian's lecture

Staff, students and members of the University and Library community are invited to the third annual Librarian Lecture.

 Edward Hippius Bromby

and his legacy to the University of Melbourne Library

Tuesday 18 September

11am - 12pm, Theatre 1, ICT Building, 111 Barry St, University of Melbourne

Edward Hippius Bromby was the first librarian at the University of Melbourne. Drawing on primary sources at the University Archives and the State Library of Victoria, the presentation covers his life in Melbourne society in the late 19th  and early 20th centuries.  Bromby developed the library in the young University and grappled with perennial issues such as collections, space and staffing and university politics.
