Open Access publishing discounts

The University of Melbourne Library has recently taken up memberships to PLoS and The Royal Society which entitle all University of Melbourne staff and students to discounted Open Access publishing charges.


The Royal Society.  Research staff and students from the University of Melbourne now benefit from a 25% discount on article processing charges for open access publication in any of the Royal Society journals, with the support of the University's open access Excellence in Science Membership.

Public Library of Science.  The Institutional Membership enables University of Melbourne authors to receive a 10% discount on publication fees in all PLoS journals: PLoS Biology, PLoS Medicine, PLoS Computational Biology, PLoS Genetics, PLoS Pathogens, PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, and PLoS ONE.

These are in addition to the Library’s existing memberships which also provide discounted Open Access publishing charges:

BioMed Central.   The Library has a BMC Supporter Membership which gives a 15% discount on the article-processing charges of all research articles accepted for publication in journals published by BioMed Central, Chemistry Central and SpringerOpen.

Mary Ann Leibert.  The Library’s Institutional Membership allows University of Melbourne authors to pay the reduced price to publish articles using Mary Ann Leibert’s Open Access Option.
