Baillieu and Research Collection Book Move: 900 - 999 November, 2012

The books in the call number range 900 to 999 are being transferred from level 2 of the Baillieu Library and the Research Collection (B collection) from the ERC to the Baillieu Library basement.  This move will occur from November 5th to December 7th.  During this transition period books will be roughly arranged in two sequences in each shelving bay in the Baillieu Library basement.  The library will be progressively interfiling the two collections over the next few weeks and  apologises for the inconvenience this may cause Library patrons during this time.

Update - Collections Relocations - September, 2012

When the Architecture and Building Library ABP relocated to Level 2 ERC in July 2012, it was decided that items in the Research (B) Collection would be repatriated to their relevant discipline Libraries, partially to enable the move of the Architecture Planning and Building (ABP) Library to the ERC Library in June 2012. This was communicated to the University community in May 2012.

This relocation and eventual interfiling of the Research Collection will enable easier discovery and will improve accessibility and convenience for library users.

Some disruption may be expected in collection areas of the Baillieu Library, Eastern Resource Centre and Biomedical Library during these collection transfers

Update - Research Collections, ERC – May 2012

The Architecture, Building and Planning (ABP) building will be demolished in 2013 to make way for a new building.  During the construction period, the ABP library collections, facilities and staff will be relocated to Level 2, Eastern Resource Centre (ERC).

To accommodate the ABP Library, the Library proposes to relocate sections of the research collection relevant to science and engineering from Level 2 (and folios on Level 1) to Level 5 of the ERC, and integrate this material with the existing general collection. This will consolidate all science and engineering materials into one collection, improving opportunities to browse and making materials easier to find. Similarly, the plan includes moving some of the arts and humanities sections of the collection to the third floor of the Baillieu Library within the next few weeks.

The Education and Economics & Business components of the ‘B’ collections will also be moved to Giblin-Eunson and interfiled by subject area.
