Louise Hanson-Dyer Music Library - Current Status at March 2012

The new space was officially open on March 5th-staff and collections moved in earlier in the week. Whilst there are some minor outstanding issues to be resolved, the area itself is spacious, filled with natural light and students are making the most of study spaces.

Louise Hanson-Dyer Music Library - Current Status at February 2012

Building works are really coming along in this space, alot of light and bold color is a definite highlight.  Sign off of the service desk will be this week, as the final assessment of the prototype is scheduled for tomorrow.

Preparations are now underway for the relocating of the Louise Hanson-Dyer Music Library Staff and we envisage staff will be relocated and operational from March 5th.

Further updates to come!

Louise Hanson-Dyer Music Library - Current Status at January 2012

Design went to tender late last year and builders have commenced their rough works for the awaited refurbishment to the Louise Hanson-Dyer Music Library.

Proark are the nominated Architects, and they have provided the Library with some interesting color and design schemes for us to consider.

FYI - During November of last year, the Louise Hanson-Dyer Music collections were relocated to a bigger and better equipped space on the second and third floors of the Arts West Building. The new library will also be accessible via the third floor of the Baillieu Library and will open during normal opening hours (see: http://www.lib.unimelb.edu.au/collections/opentime.html#MUSIC)

In the meantime, the music service desk will open as usual in the current library space on the 3rd floor of the Baillieu Library. All loans and reference queries, requests, reserve and closed access collections can be accessed here. Staff will remain in this area until works are completed during the next couple of months.

Works are expected to be completed during Semester 1.

Stay tuned for further updates.
